“This is a photo of my Grandfather’s Cedar Grove Dairy Farm in Falls City. My parents lived and worked on the farm after they married in 1925 but moved into town in the 30s. My father and his brother had a Dairy in town which made ice cream, milk, butter, cottage cheese, you name it, and expanded to a drive-in restaurant. The photo speaks to me about the Nebraska I knew back in the 40s and 50s. Living in the southeast corner in a small town, which was also the county seat, we were a farming community with values and traditions that I hold dear to this day. Life was slower there and everyone knew everyone and together we were better and stronger.” – Rachel Wittrock Eggleston
