“The photo I’ve chosen is one from a road trip I took back to Idaho when I was in college. Out the window of the car, I snapped the image of clouds breaking over rural farmland, a small roadside outpost where I can only assume a small cluster of folks work. It’s not exactly a standout photo, but it’s typical of my Idaho now. I’m only ever racing through its empty spaces, itinerant because it has nothing left to offer me but momentary instances of civilization before thrusting me back to isolation, horizon to ragged horizon.” – D.W.
